An Israeli company had a beautiful idea: give people with disabilities a way to turn their own creativity into real products, gifts for loved ones, items to sell on their own marketplace, made entirely through their own vision, with no keyboard, mouse, or design skill needed.
The Problem
Our client, an Israeli firm, wanted to build a platform where people with disabilities could independently design and produce real physical products, things like personalized coasters, engravings, and t-shirt designs, then either gift them to loved ones or sell them through their own marketplace.
The challenge wasn’t just building a voice interface; it was building one that could actually understand creative intent, remember the person it was talking to, and turn a spoken idea into a real, finished object, without anyone needing technical skill or help from someone else in the room.
What We Built
We built Mia, a voice-driven AI avatar that acts as a creative partner from idea to finished product.
A person simply talks to Mia. They might say something like “I want a bicycle, pink, with a gold seat,” and Mia generates an image on screen in response. From there, it’s a real back-and-forth conversation, the person can ask for changes on the fly, swap colors, adjust details, try something different, entirely hands-free, until the image is exactly right.
Because people spend real time interacting with Mia, Mia builds memory of them over that relationship, understanding their style and preferences, so their creativity and vision come through more naturally the more they use it.
Once the design is approved, the person simply tells Mia to print it. Mia converts the final image into machine-ready instructions (G-code, the language laser engravers actually understand) and sends them directly to a connected laser engraving machine, producing the finished product, ready to send to a loved one as a gift or to list on their own marketplace.
The Result
- People with disabilities could independently turn their own ideas into real, finished products, with zero technical skill required
- The full conversation-to-creation loop happened entirely through natural voice interaction
- Mia built an understanding of each person’s style and preferences over time, through real ongoing interaction
- Finished products could be gifted to loved ones or sold through the client’s own marketplace, giving people real creative and commercial independence
- The system ran entirely locally for reliability and privacy, with no dependency on the cloud
The Honest Bit
The hardest part of this project wasn’t the voice technology or the hardware integration on their own, it was making Mia genuinely interactive and aware. A creative request like “make me a bicycle” isn’t a single instruction; it’s the start of a conversation. People change their minds, ask for small tweaks, and build on an idea piece by piece, and Mia had to track all of that smoothly, in real time, entirely through voice, with no screen interaction to fall back on.
On top of that, since people would be spending real, ongoing time with Mia, we needed the system to genuinely get to know them over that relationship, not treat every session like a stranger walking in. Building that understanding alongside the live image generation and revision loop, and then making sure the final approved design could be reliably converted and sent to a laser engraving machine without any manual intervention, took real engineering care.
Getting all of those pieces- conversation, memory, image generation, and physical machine output- to work together smoothly is what made this project genuinely complex.
